hyperface

What is hyperface?

HyperFace is an artistic design style and concept still under development. Making It one of many styles in the growing field of anti-surveillance clothing.

Utilizing unique patterns that acts as a kind of digital camouflage. Hyperface aims to reduce the confidence scores of facial detection and recognition software’s by creating false faces. Ultimately, the idea is to confuse and distract computer vision algorithms.

It works by providing maximally activated false faces based on the ideal algorithmic representations of a human face. These maximal activations are targeted for specific algorithms.

Drawing inspiration from traditional camouflage, where the goal is to reduce the difference between the figure and the ground. HyperFace aims to reduce the confidence score between the true face by redirecting attention to the false faces.

Conceptually, HyperFace understand that completely concealing a face from facial detection algorithms remains a challenge. So Instead of looking for computer vision anonymity through reducing the confidence score of a true face, HyperFace offers a higher confidence score for a nearby false face by exploiting a common algorithmic preference for the highest confidence facial region. To simplify, it’s simply adding a layer of difficulty to a computer algorithm system.
